A 32-year-old woman in South Richmond Hill, Queens, was charged with murder after her 5-year-old daughter was found unconscious and bleeding in their home, according to FOX 5 NY and the NYPD.

Police responded to a 911 call reporting an assault at the family residence on 110th Street. The mother reportedly told the 911 operator that she had killed her daughter, as reported by FOX 5 NY and QNS.

Officers found the child unresponsive with bleeding from her nose and mouth and rushed her to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead, according to FOX 5 NY.

An autopsy determined the child had injuries consistent with asphyxia, leading to the murder charge against the mother, who was undergoing psychiatric evaluation at the hospital, QNS reported.

The investigation included statements from witnesses and admissions from the mother, as stated in the criminal complaint referenced by QNS.

The child's grandfather spoke to the media, mentioning the mother's psychological struggles and recent hospitalizations, as reported by QNS.
