Charlotte sets record for latest 90-degree day with 90 degrees on Oct. 15
Charlotte reached 90 degrees on Oct. 15, setting a record for the latest 90-degree day in city history.
Charlotte set a new record high temperature for October 15, reaching 90 degrees, according to WBTV. This temperature surpassed the previous record of 88 degrees set in 1985 for that date.
The 90-degree reading on Oct. 15 also marks the latest day in the year that Charlotte has recorded a 90-degree temperature, with records dating back to the late 1800s, WBTV reported.
The day before, Oct. 14, Charlotte had already set a record high of 89 degrees. Another chance for record heat is expected on Friday before a strong cold front moves into the region.
Starting Saturday, cooler and drier conditions are forecast with highs in the mid-60s and possible showers early in the day. Sunday will bring lows in the 30s and 40s, with afternoon highs again in the mid-60s, WBTV said.
