Three children and a teacher died in a shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, according to NBC News.

The children who were killed were ages 5, 8, and 11, NBC News reported.

Police said the 16-year-old suspect forced entry by firing through locked doors and was fatally shot by a community member who pursued him into the school.

Authorities have not disclosed whether the suspect had any connection to the school or how he obtained the weapon, NBC News added.

Deschutes County dispatch received multiple calls reporting the shooting, including one from a person in a vehicle who said they were being shot at by someone with a long gun.

NPR News also reported on the shooting and noted other national and international news developments, including DOJ suing California over voter rolls and Russia's stance on Ukraine strikes.
