A 19-year-old man from Sunnyvale died following a motorcycle collision in Santa Clara on Wednesday evening, police reported. The crash occurred just before 6:45 p.m. at the intersection of Stevens Creek and Winchester boulevards, according to Santa Clara Police Lt. Eric Lagergren.

The motorcyclist was riding a Yamaha when it struck a red Ford vehicle, police said. First responders performed life-saving measures and transported him to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The driver of the Ford was not injured in the crash. Police have not released information about whether speed or impairment played a role in the collision.

The Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner will release the motorcyclist's identity once it is confirmed and his next of kin have been notified. Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact Traffic Investigator Steven Ernst at 408-615-4764.
