Bed bugs were discovered in returned library materials at the Oberlin Regional Library in Raleigh, Wake County officials confirmed, as reported by ABC11 WTVD and WRAL.

Wake County Public Libraries first treated the Oberlin Regional Library for bed bugs on August 17, with the most recent treatment occurring on October 12, according to a county spokesperson quoted by WRAL. Pest control crews were observed spraying inside the library on October 16.

The library system has removed affected materials from circulation and is conducting inspections while working with pest management professionals to treat the facility as needed, according to statements reported by both outlets.

While pest control is investigating reports at other Wake County libraries, no other infestations have been confirmed, the county spokesperson told WRAL.

Library services continue to operate normally, and Wake County Libraries is implementing additional preventive measures to protect its collections and facilities, ABC11 WTVD reported.
