Cold front to bring strong winds, storms and cooler temps to Orlando area
A cold front will bring gusty winds, thunderstorms, and a temperature drop to Orlando this weekend.
Central Florida, including Orlando, is expecting a cold front to move through Saturday, bringing strong winds and cooler temperatures, FOX 35 Orlando reported.
Friday could see near-record high temperatures around 91 degrees before afternoon storms develop, with a 60% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms continuing into Saturday, according to FOX 35.
The cold front will bring north winds with gusts of 30–40 mph inland and up to 40–45 mph at the beaches, leading to large breaking waves and a high risk of dangerous rip currents, FOX 35 noted.
Local officials are urging beach-goers to stay out of the water due to life-threatening rip currents and possible minor beach and dune erosion, FOX 35 added.
Temperatures are expected to drop significantly, with highs falling to the upper 70s and low 80s by Sunday and into next week, with only isolated showers expected, according to FOX 35.
WFTV 9 also mentioned the cold front bringing strong winds, storms, and dangerous surf to Central Florida, reinforcing the forecast for the Orlando area.
