The Baltimore City Council is evaluating a proposal to establish a new agency focused on addressing nonviolent emergencies without police involvement, according to FOX45 Baltimore.

Supporters of the plan believe it will help connect individuals with necessary city and state services before they reach a crisis, as reported by WYPR. The initiative includes sending clinicians and social workers to respond to specific 911 calls.
